WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY
Ian. The big one Florida’s been waiting for has arrived. Hurricane Ian is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast later today as a Category 3 hurricane, with sustained winds of 125 mph. Its trajectory has moved further south and east than initially anticipated, which could spare the heavily populated Tampa Bay area the worst of the storm but bring historic rainfall to Central Florida, including Orlando.
Goldman. Goldman Sachs is doubling its longtime office footprint in Downtown Miami. The firm signed a lease for 34,500 square feet at the Southeast Financial Center, where it has been located since the ’80s.
Citizens. Speaking of giant financial institutions, JPMorgan Chase has provided upstart hospitality company citizenM with a $210 million loan for four of its urban micro-hotels that are under development in South Beach, Seattle, Chicago and Menlo Park, Calif.
That’s what’s up today. Stay safe!
